Mosquitoes are commonly black with a variation of dark colors. They have long legs and a long nose which the females use to bite. These six legged insects carry many different diseases, passing them between the different people and animals that they bite. Some of these diseases can be fatal, including: West Nile virus, Malaria and Dengue.

Mosquitoes come out most often around dawn or dusk due to the fact that if they are hit with direct sunlight they are likely to die. They lay their eggs in areas where still water has gathered. As such, you want to be sure to clear out any water that could be around your home from puddles to flower vases, as this could be the main cause of a mosquito infestation.

Signs of an Infestation

The most common sign of a mosquito infestation is a persistent buzzing around you and little itchy, red bite marks. Mosquitoes are most often found lingering in hot humid areas. If you see a handful of them hanging around in areas such as these, be cautious going near it, and don’t take the chance of being bit as the diseases they carry can be extremely damaging to your health.

Another sign that is very important to look out for, especially if you live on a farm or with animals, is your animal getting sick from possible diseases that could have been transmitted by mosquitoes. Mosquito bites can vary from giving you mild irritation to severe sicknesses.
